Motorcyclist stopped going 206 km/h on Gatineau highway

A 19-year-old man is facing a nearly $2,000 fine after being stopped speeding 106 km/h over the speed limit on a Gatineau highway.

The Sûreté du Québec says officers observed a motorcyclist going 206 km/h on Highway 50 near Lepine Avenue in the Buckingham sector.

The speed limit is 100 km/h.

The driver from Lochaber received a $1,986 ticket and 24 demerit points for speeding, police said on Tuesday.

“The Sûreté du Québec reminds us that speeding is one of the leading causes of fatal collisions on Quebec roads,” police said.
