Man arrested following home invasion, vehicle theft that ended in flames north of Kingston, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police say a 24-year-old man is facing several charges following an alleged home invasion north of Kingston Tuesday evening.

Officers were called to a home in Inverary at around 7:30 p.m. on reports a man had broken in and threatened the homeowners.

Police say the suspect stole the homeowners’ car, which was later found rolled over and on fire on Greenfield Road, with the suspect missing.

Residents in the area were asked to shelter in place in their homes until the suspect was found at around 8:30 p.m. Police say he had serious, but non-life-threatening injuries because of the collision.

The accused is facing a list of charges including robbery with theft, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle, impaired driving, and mischief, among others.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Kingston in June.
