One man died and another was in critical condition Saturday evening after two unrelated boating accidents on Southern Ontario lakes.

In the first incident, a 32-year-old man drowned around 6 p.m. when he fell off an inflatable dingy on Lake Simcoe, York Regional Police Sgt. Laurie Perks told CTV.ca Saturday evening.

The drowning victim wasn't wearing a life jacket at the time, said Perks, who added that the man was taken to a hospital in nearby Newmarket, where he was pronounced dead.

His name wasn't immediately released.

In an unrelated incident on Lake Muskoka, a 33-year-old man was seriously injured when the boat he was operating crashed end-over-end.

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Paul Connell told CTV.ca that the vessel was a racing boat which was "travelling at a very high rate of speed" moments before the crash.

The man was pulled from the water by locals who witnessed the crash, and he was sent to hospital in Toronto. He is currently listed in critical condition.

The incidents come after several deadly days in Ontario's cottage country. Earlier this week, two men drowned near Bala Falls.

Last week, three men died as they were cliff jumping near Moon River Falls.
