Sudbury police need help identifying female pedestrian hit by car

Police in Sudbury are trying to identify a female pedestrian who was seriously hurt in a collision on MR80 in Val Caron.

Sudbury police are having trouble identifying a woman who suffered serious, life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car Monday night, police say.

Police were called to the scene on MR80 south of MacKenzie Street in the Val Caron area of Greater Sudbury just after 9 p.m. March 10, police said in a news release.

The female pedestrian, believed to be in her 30s, was taken to hospital where she remains in critical condition.

“The identity of the pedestrian is unknown at this time as emergency responders were unable to locate any identification at the time of the collision,” police said.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the pedestrian was walking in (the) turning lane of MR80 when she stepped into the northbound lane and was struck by the vehicle.”

The driver involved remained at the scene.

The integrated traffic safety unit is continuing its investigation.

“Anyone with information related to this collision or the identity of the pedestrian is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171,” police said.
