Sault police investigate sudden death of a person in custody

Someone who was in custody at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre died Wednesday morning, Sault police said in a news release Thursday.

Police were informed through a 911 call around 9:40 a.m. “of the sudden death of a person in custody,” the release said.

“Detectives with investigation services have been assigned to investigate the incident,” police said.
