Sault man charged with drug trafficking after arrest

A 47-year-old man faces multiple drug-related charges after police seized suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine during an arrest last week.

According to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, officers executed an arrest warrant at about 2:20 p.m. on May 12, in the 0-100 block of Albion Street after the accused failed to attend court.

During the arrest, police say they found approximately 29.32 grams of suspected fentanyl and 0.24 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

“The total estimated street value of drugs seized is approximately $4,422,” police said in a news release.

The accused is charged with drug trafficking, drug possession, failing to attend court, and breaching a probation order.

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 7.
