North Bay and area under heavy rainfall warning

With heavy rain on the way to the northeast, Rick Wyman has all the weather forecast details you need for the next seven days.

Environment Canada says as much as 60 mm of rain could fall in areas in and around North Bay throughout the day on Thursday.

The warning also covers Powassan and Mattawa.

“Continuing through this afternoon,” the weather forecaster said.

“Rain, at times heavy, and possible embedded thunderstorms are expected to taper to showers later today.”

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible,” Environment Canada said.

“If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”
