Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 48-year-old McKellar man with impaired driving following a two-vehicle collision in McDougall Township last month.

On April 27 at about 8 p.m., officers responded to a report of two motorcycles losing control on Kirkham Road after nearly causing a head-on collision with a third vehicle.

One of the motorcyclists, the accused, now faces charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, along with two impaired driving offences – including operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80.

In addition to the charges, the rider had his licence suspended for 90 days, and the motorcycle involved was impounded for seven days at the owner’s expense.

The second motorcycle driver was airlifted to a Sudbury-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.

“Updates will be provided when available,” OPP said in its news release.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Parry Sound on June 19.
