Hwy. 69 traffic stop uncovers drugs and weapons, southern Ont. trio charged

Having cannabis openly displayed in their vehicle turned out badly for three people from southern Ontario this week, who were pulled over by Ontario Provincial Police on Highway 69.

OPP stopped the vehicle for a sobriety check in Archipelago Township on Feb. 27.

“A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a firearm, high-capacity magazine and suspected cocaine and Fentanyl with an estimated street value of over $22,000,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

Charged are a 16-year-old from Scarborough, a 22-year-old from Milton and a 27-year-old from Vaughan. They face dozens of drug and weapons charges, including trafficking and possessing a restricted weapon. One was charged for not wearing a seatbelt properly.

Collectively, they are charged with more than 40 offences.

The three suspects are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 21.
