Another two new COVID-19 case confirmed by Porcupine Health Unit

Sudbury — Two new positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed by Porcupine Health Unit Thursday morning.

This brings the case count to 79, with five currently active.

A person between the ages of 20 and 39 from the area of Kapuskasing, Opasatika, Val Rita-Harty, Moonbeam, Fauquier-Strickland is in self-isolation after being tested Tuesday. An investigation into how the person was exposed is underway.

The second newest case is a Timmins resident between the ages of 40 and 59. A contact of another confirmed case, they were also tested Tuesday and is in self-isolation.

Health officials are asking everyone to continue to take preventative measures as evidence of community spread continues.

With these two new cases, the number of active cases in the northeastern Ontario region climbs to 13. There are seven currently in the Sudbury and Manitoulin Districts and one in the Nipissing District.
