Another new COVID-19 case confirmed in Greater Sudbury, fifth since Saturday

Sudbury — The fifth new case of COVID-19 in the Sudbury area since Saturday has been confirmed by public health pointing to community spread.

Tuesday morning, Public Health Sudbury and Districts reported that another new case has been confirmed positive, marking the 99th in the area, that includes the Manitoulin District, since the pandemic began. There have been two COVID-related deaths in the Sudbury and Manitoulin Districts.

The individual's exposure is not related to travel or contact with another known case.

They are in self-isolation after being tested Sept. 13.

Public health will notify all close contacts directly. If you are not contacted by health officials, you are not considered a close contact.

On Saturday, health officials confirmed two new positive cases in the Sudbury and Manitoulin Districts and issued a warning to the public about a possible low-risk exposure for customers who visited Kate Kountry Kitchen on Sept. 4 and 5.

Monday night, two other positive cases were confirmed after contact with a person with exposure not related to travel or another case.

Prevent the spread of COVID-19

If you have a COVID-19 symptom, call the local assessment centre and get tested. People who are asymptomatic, who are concerned that they have been exposed to COVID-19, or those who are at risk of exposure to COVID-19 through their employment are also encouraged to contact an assessment centre and get tested.
