TORONTO - The union representing Air Canada pilots (TSX:AC.B) says travellers don't have to worry about a strike over the busy holiday season.

The union group issued a statement making clear there isn't a danger that they'll strike during the period.

The president of the Air Canada Pilots Association says there is no reason for it to take any action as long as both sides negotiate in good faith.

Pilots aren't in a legal strike position until mid-February, when they face a potential deadline.

Capt. Paul Strachan said the key will be for the airline to allow pilots to be full participants in its strategic vision.
