Ryan Flanagan is a Toronto-based writer and producer with CTVNews.ca.

He joined the CTVNews.ca team in Toronto in 2018. Since then, he has covered some of the biggest stories in the country as a general assignment reporter and helped lead CTVNews.ca's coverage of the 2019 federal election and the COVID-19 pandemic. He has also created and curated two newsletters, The Climate Barometer and True North Tales.

Prior to moving to Toronto in 2018, Ryan spent five years leading the digital efforts of CTV News Kitchener. While in his hometown, he helmed local coverage of high-profile stories in topics including transportation, politics, natural disasters and community affairs.

Ryan was part of the CTV News Kitchener team that won the Edward R. Murrow award for Overall Excellence from the Radio Television News Digital Association (RTNDA) in 2018. He served as a judge for the RTDNA's annual awards in 2019 and 2020.

Ryan has a degree in journalism and contemporary studies from Wilfrid Laurier University. Prior to joining CTV News, he was a reporter and photographer for newspapers in Ontario and Manitoba.

He speaks English and French.
