Ryan Flanagan joined the CTVNews.ca team in Toronto in 2018 after five years leading the digital efforts of CTV News Kitchener.

While in his hometown of Kitchener, Ryan helmed local coverage of high-profile stories in topics including transportation, major political issues, natural disasters and criminal activity.

He also guided CTV News Kitchener’s digital coverage of municipal, provincial and federal elections, and was part of the team that won the Edward R. Murrow award for Overall Excellence from the Radio Television News Digital Association in 2018.

Since moving to Toronto, Ryan has covered everything from federal politics to climate change to the Canadian retail industry as a general assignment reporter. He has also created and produced the True North Tales newsletter.

Ryan has a degree in journalism and contemporary studies from Wilfrid Laurier University. Prior to joining CTV News, he was a reporter and photographer for newspapers in Ontario and Manitoba.

He speaks English.
