Man in his 40s dies after fire in Longueuil home

Police say a man in his 40s has died after being found unconscious in a house fire in Longueuil Monday morning.

Longueuil police confirmed the man’s death in an update on social media Monday afternoon.

Police and fire officials responded at around 7 a.m. to the one-storey house on Viger Street in the Saint-Hubert borough.

Another person suffered severe smoke inhalation in the fire and was treated by paramedics, but authorities do not fear for their life.

A third person, who was also in the home, was interviewed by police.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
