Lockdown ends at 2 South Shore schools after threats deemed ‘baseless’

The lockdowns at two schools on Montreal’s South Shore are over following threatening phone calls that were made Tuesday morning.

Longueuil police (SPAL) says it was alerted to threats at 10 a.m. at Centennial Regional High School in Greenfield Park and École Marie-Victorin, an elementary school in Brossard.

By 12:55 p.m., the force said students were being allowed to “move around under supervision.”

At 2:35 p.m., Longueuil police said that “everything is under control” and the “threats to school institutions were baseless.”

There were no reported injuries.

Police cars remain at the schools, the force said, to “reassure students and staff until the end of classes.”

Parents, who were asked not to head to the schools during the police operation, are expected to receive a note from their school service centre about the incidents.
