Sherbrooke man arrested after girlfriend found dead

The Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) launched a homicide investigation after the body of a 33-year-old woman was found in a residence in the eastern part of the city.

Joey Bilodeau, 28, was charged with second-degree murder via videoconference Saturday afternoon.

According to police, Mylene Masson-Bessette’s relatives who worried for her and alerted the police. When officers arrived at the residence Friday evening, they found her dead.

Bilodeau was arrested on-site. He was questioned Saturday afternoon.

Police did not disclose the nature of the woman’s injuries so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation. Forensic experts were on site Saturday and witnesses were interviewed by police.

The investigation is ongoing.
