Man stabbed in Montreal’s Little Burgundy neighbourhood, 1 arrested

A 39-year-old man was arrested on Saturday night after another man was stabbed near the Lionel-Groulx metro in Montreal.

Montreal police (SPVM) responded to a 911 call to the corner of Atwater Avenue and Notre-Dame Street and located a 22-year-old man with upper-body injures caused by a sharp object.

He was transported to a hospital in stable condition and police say he is not cooperative.

“We did proceed to the arrest to the suspect not far from the assault,” said SPVM spokesperson Veronique Dubuc.

According to initial information obtained by police, the two men had an altercation at the intersection and at one point the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim.

The investigation is ongoing.
