Man stabbed during fight in Ville-Marie

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a 28-year-old man was stabbed during an altercation in Ville-Marie early Saturday morning.

Around 4:50 a.m., SPVM officers patrolling on Sainte-Catherine Street near Berger Street intervened and broke up a fight between two men.

They then discovered one of the men had been stabbed in the upper body.

The victim was transported to the hospital conscious and is now in stable condition.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene and will be interviewed by investigators.

Authorities say the motive behind the incident and the relationship between the two men remain unclear. The victim is not cooperating with the police.

The investigation is ongoing.
