TORONTO -- Provincial police say a 25-year-old man is facing charges after a transport truck spilled yogurt onto a busy stretch of a major highway in Toronto's east end early Friday.

Officers say the truck was travelling west on Highway 401 when it hit the support posts for an electronic sign.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says the entire right side of the truck's trailer was ripped open in the collision.

Schmidt says it turned the highway into a "big slippery mess."

Police say multiple lanes of the highway were blocked while authorities cleaned up with photographs and video showing pools of yogurt and containers on the road.

Schmidt says a Brampton, Ont., man is charged with careless driving, adding that investigators believe fatigue was a factor in the crash.
