BRAMPTON, Ont. - Police west of Toronto say the subject of a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested in Nova Scotia and is facing a slew of charges following a human trafficking investigation.

Peel Regional Police say the man was taken into custody by Halifax police in Dartmouth, N.S., on Jan. 15, and three days later he was taken back to Ontario where the alleged offences happened.

Peel police say they began investigating the accused after receiving a report in February 2017 that a woman had been violently assaulted.

They say they discovered the man had been "exploiting" that woman and one other in the sex trade.

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address is facing 15 charges that include trafficking in persons, forcible confinement and sexual assault.
