Sir Mick Jagger enjoyed a dance off with ex-Eurhythmics star Dave Stewart on Wednesday night.

The Rolling Stones rocker showed off his dancing prowess while on a night out at the Double Seven nightclub in New York's Meatpacking district with Dave, and the pair were seen throwing shapes to a mash-up song featuring MGMT, The Doors, David Bowie and Talking Heads.

Mick and Dave -- who are members of band SuperHeavy alongside Joss Stone, Damian Marley and A.R. Rahman -- had earlier enjoyed a quiet dinner together at the Lambs Club before they hit the bar, according to the New York Post newspaper.

Mick, 68, previously revealed he dances as a way to keep his weight down because he is not a gym "fanatic."

He said: "I have very good genes and I don't put on weight. I still have a drink. I am not a fanatic about being in the gym for hours or pounding the pavements as that's detrimental.

"If you are not doing shows then you have to keep up a certain level of fitness or there's no going back. Five times a week you have to do half an hour biking or in the gym.

"But dancing is really good and more fun than being in a gym. I go out clubbing."
