Special weather statement in effect, strong winds batter region

CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison says acold front will continue to move through with strong wind gusts out of the northwest.

A quick but powerful storm battered our region Tuesday afternoon. A special weather statement remains in effect, with strong winds gusting up to 80 km/h possible Tuesday evening.

A sharp cold front will continue to move through with strong wind gusts out of the northwest continuing into the night.

“The winds will ease off through the overnight, skies clear out and the temperatures drop down between zero and plus three,” explained CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison.

Atchison said some colder conditions and single-digit temps could see some areas drop below freezing, heading towards Wiarton.

Despite, that, “Sunshine through the day Wednesday to a mix of sun and cloud,” she added. “The next area of low pressure moves in Thursday with some light showers.”

“This is a slow moving low pressure system, so have a couple days of rain to get through,” said Atchison.
