Pickup truck flips into creek in Perth County

An 82-year-old man has died after the pickup truck he was driving rolled into a culvert and became partially submerged in fast-flowing water on Friday morning.

Perth County OPP officers were called to the rural property on Perth Line 8 east of Kirkton shortly before 8:30 a.m.

They discovered a pickup truck on its roof beside a culvert partially submerged in water, and a male next to the truck also partially submerged.

Police say it appears the man had been driving to the residence when the truck rolled down an embankment and he ended up in the frigid creek water as he attempted to climb out of the truck.

Kenneth Blackler, a Perth South resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
