OPP identify pedestrian killed after getting hit by car near Wingham

Huron County OPP have released the name of the 73-year-old woman who was killed after she was hit by a car near Wingham on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as 73-year-old Lena Siegers from Brussels, Ont.  A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday.

At about 1:15 p.m., OPP along with Huron County EMS and North Huron Fire Department personnel responded to a pedestrian and motor vehicle collision south of Belgrave at the intersection of London Road and Morris Road.

Police say the pedestrian entered onto London Road and the driver of a southbound Chevrolet Impala collided with her.

The pedestrian was transported from the scene to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The traffic unit attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.
