London man faces charges after stolen plates pinged by OPP cameras

A police vehicle picked up stolen plates on a vehicle in London, resulting in several charges for a 33-year-old driver.

According to OPP, on May 2, at 10:30 p.m., the vehicle drew the attention of law enforcement in the area of Wellington Road, and Exeter Road in London. The Automated License Plate Recognition system flagged the plates, and the officer conducted a traffic stop.

The lone occupant, a 33-year-old London man was charged not only in relation to the stolen plates, but additionally, for having care or control of motor vehicle with liquor in open baggage, and having care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

Middlesex OPP have utilized in car camera systems to check plates since March 2023, and continue to lay charges against drivers with invalid or unregistered plates, who are driving unlicensed, while under suspention or prohibited from driving.
