WHO CAN GET VACCINATED RIGHT NOW?

Anyone 12 and older.

Some area pharmacies and doctor's officers were providing the AstraZeneca vaccine to all adults over 40, however the province announced on May 11 that it would no longer be offering the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine due to an increase in reports of rare blood clots.

Second doses of AstraZeneca are available for those who did get AstraZeneca as their first dose, though they can also choose one of the mRNA vaccines for their second dose if they prefer. Pharmacies and doctor's offices are now offering mRNA vaccines as well as the Middlesex-London Health Unit.

WHO IS NEXT IN LINE?

The second phase, or the mass vaccine rollout, is underway, with the vast majority of the adult population and youth ages 12 to 17 all now eligible. Trials are underway on the use of the vaccine on children under the age of 12.

HOW WILL I FIND OUT WHEN I CAN RECEIVE THE VACCINE?

The Middlesex-London Health Unit is communicating details regarding first and second-dose vaccinations for the public through multiple channels including online and through social media.

Walk-is are also now being accepted at all mass vaccination centres and pop-up clinics run by the Middlesex-London Health Unit and area paramedics.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE REGISTERING?

Both the Pfizer BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are mRNA vaccines. You can learn more about how they work and how effective they are here.

While the vaccines are considered safe and effective, there are some common side effects and in rare situations, some people could experience symptoms or an allergic reaction.

The AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have also been approved. Both are viral vector-based vaccines that use a harmless virus to deliver the vaccine.

WHO HAS ALREADY RECEIVED THE VACCINE?

Four vaccination centres are currently open, at the Western Fair District Agriplex, North London Optimist Community Centre in London, Caradoc Community Centre in Mount Brydges and Earl Nichols Recreation Centre.
