Coroner’s inquest launched into death of man at Windsor detention centre

An inquest into the death of a man at Southwest Detention Centre was announced by the province on Monday.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 31-year-old Joseph Gratton on October 30, 2019 while in custody at the detention centre is mandatory under the Coroner’s Act.

The investigation may yield recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths in the future.
