Charges laid in overnight shooting and robbery of dog: LPS

Three people have been charged in an overnight shooting and robbery investigation in Old East Village.

On Thursday around 12:45 a.m., police said two men went into an apartment building in the 200 block of Simcoe Street, where they met a woman inside.

Around 2:20 a.m., the suspects knocked on an apartment door and entered when the victim answered. A male and female, both victims, were inside the home.

The London Police Service said one of the male suspects pointed a handgun at the victims, while he allegedly demanded money and property. He fired the gun in the apartment building, according to officers, and ran with the victims’ dog.

Police found and arrested the suspects in a vehicle nearby. During a search, officers seized a silver handgun, 56 grams of methamphetamine, and a quantity of Dilaudid 8 (hydromorphone) pills.

Three people were charged following the investigation. No people have been named, as it could lead to the identification of an accused youth.

A 19-year-old and a 17-year-old of London have been charged with several break-and-enter and firearm related charges.

The 19-year-old is facing additional charges of disguise with intent and two counts of possession of a schedule one substance.

The 17-year-old was also charged with discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, failure to comply with a release order, failure to attend court/undertaking, possession of a schedule one substance, and failure to comply with a sentence.

A 39-year-old London woman has been charged with armed robbery and disguise with intent.

The dog was found and returned to its owners, uninjured.
