#MuseumWeek is set to take over Twitter from March 23-29, with more than a thousand institutions lined up to interact with visitors via the social network.

Twitter launched the #MuseumWeek hashtag last year in the U.K. and across Europe to celebrate and explore the work that goes on at cultural institutions. More than 630 museums and galleries in 20 countries sent more than 260,000 tweets throughout the week.

Organizers report that more than 1,100 participants from 45 countries are to take part in the 2015 event, which, like the inaugural edition, will structure each day of the week around a different theme.

Monday, March 23 is devoted to the hashtag #secretsMW, with institutions showing what goes on behind the scenes.

March 24 is for #souvenirsMW, and all are encouraged to share souvenirs and memories of their museum visits.

On Wednesday, March 25, #architectureMW will explore museums' history, architecture heritage, gardens and surroundings; a day later, users are invited to "create and share for posterity" for #inspirationMW; and on Friday, museums will share tips for those looking to visit with kids using the hashtag #familyMW.

Saturday and Sunday are all about sharing: first #favMW, encouraging tweets related to favorite works, venues, etc., and then #poseMW -- the time for posting selfies and creating memes.

A digital installation based on the resulting tweets, being created by the BRIGHT studio with the artist Marcin Ignac, is to be shown at museumweek2015.org, in Paris at the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine and on touch screens across the city, and in the UK, where museums will have the option of displaying it free of charge.

In an unusual twist, tweets about this year's #MuseumWeek are also to be captured in a time capsule that will be displayed in museums across Europe and elsewhere and opened until 2035.
