Elf on the Shelf is no match for Elsa's powers over ice and snow.
Parents are getting creative with the Elf's activities and involving another fan favourite – Elsa from Disney's Frozen.
Pictures of Elsa dolls freezing the Elf on the Shelf are circulating on social media, and children's reactions to the stunt are mixed.

The Elf on the Shelf has become a hugely popular Christmas tradition since it was introduced a decade ago.
Acting as Santa's helper, the elf flies to the North Pole each night to report to his boss, and returns in the morning perched in a new spot to watch the children during the day.
Parents often turn to websites such as Pinterest to find Elf inspiration, which is where it appears the Elsa trend originated.
