Business broken into after door smashed in Guelph: police

Police are investigating after a man broke into a Guelph business early Saturday by smashing the front door with a hammer.

Officers were called to the business near Edinburgh Road South and Municipal Street around 9:30 a.m., after the manager arrived to find the door damaged.

Security footage showed a man using a small hammer to break the glass and enter the building shortly before 4:30 a.m. He checked both cash registers before leaving empty-handed.

The suspect is described as white and wearing all black clothing with a white design on the thigh and red markings on his shoes. He was also wearing a face mask, sunglasses, backpack, and a black hat under a hood.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Guelph police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
