Vintage Fest gives St. Jacobs market goers a blast from the past

Attracting the next generation of market goers From CTV Kitchener: Vintage Fest in St. Jacobs is looking to attract the next generation of market goers.

KW Famous and the St Jacobs Market District are hoping to attract the next generation of market goers.

Vintage Fest rolled into town for the long weekend and gave shoppers a chance to browse 50 retro pop up shops outside Market Road Antiques.

"There's been a lot of vintage, antique, and even up-cycled items here," said Shannon Hall of the St. Jacobs Market District. "We've had some amazing buskers. We've had a different headliner every day. Today we wrapped up with the West Coast Swing Authority and they're a really fun group to watch."

The first-time festival featured food trucks, stilt walkers, and musical acts highlighting local buskers.

"The region has done so much in approaching climate change, and we have Reep Green Solutions here today as our charity of choice," said Samantha Staresincic, head of operations for KW Famous. "We just want everybody to start thinking about tourism in the same way, because it's great for economic development, but also how can we do that while still thinking about climate and the future and reusing products?"

The festival ran all long weekend and wrapped up at 6 p.m. Monday.

"It's a great community of vintage vendors we have here," said Amy Krete of Pretty Vintage Cambridge. "It's really great. The people are amazing. There's such cool stuff. It's overall a really fun experience."

Organizers say the turnout was good and are hoping to do it again next year.
