‘Super’ visit at Kitchener hospital

Patients at a hospital in Kitchener had a ‘super’ day thanks to some unexpected visitors.

Spider-Man, Batman and Robin rappelled down the side of WRHN @ Midtown, formerly known as Grand River Hospital, Monday afternoon.

The heroes called in some help from the Waterloo Regional Police Service to make the decent safely. The police service’s Emergency Response Team practices at buildings throughout the region, and offered to give the superheroes a hand.

On the way down, the heroes peeked into the fifth floor Cancer Lounge. Once they reached the ground, they decided to go in for a visit.

“Health care workers and the children who are receiving care at the hospital are the true superheroes of our community and we wanted to do something fun and exciting to let them know how much they are appreciated to bring a smile to their face,” Waterloo Regional Police Service Director of Corporate Affairs Cherri Greeno said in an email.
