ST. JOHN'S, N.L. -- The largest health authority in Newfoundland has closed more health facilities to visitors as an influenza-like virus continues to spread.

Eastern Health says the latest closures affect the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home in Carbonear and two facilities in St. John's: Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion and St. Patrick's Mercy Home.

On Wednesday, the Hoyles Escasoni Complex in St. John's and the Placentia Health Centre and nursing home in Placentia were closed to visitors.

As well, Eastern Health has imposed visitor restrictions at the Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home in Clarke's Beach, the Dr. Walter Templeman Health Care Centre on Bell Island, the St. Patrick's Mercy Home in St. John's and the Saint Luke's Homes in St. John's.
