Fifteen years ago, Mark Zuckerberg and his co-creators launched Facebook from a dorm room at Harvard University.
Initially a Harvard-only networking site, Facebook quickly expanded and became the biggest social networking site in the world with more than 2.2 billion users from around the world.
But Facebook’s history hasn’t been without its ups and downs – particularly lately.
High profile lawsuits, privacy scandals, and scrutiny over the site’s role in disseminating fake news during the 2016 U.S. election have marred Facebook’s public perception at times, and resulted in major financial losses for both Zuckerberg and the company.
