Metallics, winter white and classic tuxedos were the top trends of the red carpet Sunday night, as stars went for full Hollywood glamour at the 85th Academy Awards.

Charlize Theron, Queen Latifah and Jennifer Lawrence all wore white, while Jessica Chastain, Naomi Watts and Halle Berry went for the metallic chic look. There was plenty of colour -- Jennifer Garner in plum, Reese Witherspoon in blue and Jennifer Aniston in red, for example – while the men kept it clean with classic tuxedos.

There were standout hair trends for both the men and the women: loose chignons for the ladies (Nicole Kidman, Amanda Seyfried and Samantha Barks) and full facial hair for the men (Ben Affleck, George Clooney and Tommy Lee Jones).
