Marie Osmond is going to be a grandmother.

The 53-year-old singer has announced the happy news that her eldest son Stephen Craig and his wife Claire Olds - who married in 2011 - are expecting their first child together.

Speaking on 'The Talk' today, Marie jokingly said: "I'm pregnant!"

As the audience cheered and clapped, she explained: "No, no! But my daughter-in-law is [pregnant]!"

Marie revealed her son Stephen told her the baby news when they went out as a family to celebrate his 30th birthday.

She revealed: "I am so excited I'm going to be a grandma. I just can't wait. We went out for my son - for his birthday - he turned 30, which is amazing because I'm 29. He blew out the candles and then blew me away and said, 'You're gonna be a grandma!' It was really fun."

Host Sharon Osbourne was quick to congratulate Marie, telling her being a granma is "the best".

Sharon - whose son Jack Osbourne and his wife Lisa welcomed their daughter Pearl into the world in April 2012 - added: "It's a gift from God! Congratulations!"

Stephen is Marie's son with husband Stephen Lyle Craig - who she divorced in 1985 and then remarried in May 2011.

Marie - a member of showbusiness family The Osmonds - also has seven children with her second husband Brian Blosil, who she married in October 1986.

They had two children together, Rachael, 23, and Matthew, 13, and adopted five kids, Jessica Marie, Michael Bryan, Brandon Warren, Brianna Patricia and Abigail Olive May.

Marie and Brian announced they were divorcing in March 2007.
