CTV’s W5 has won a pair of Canadian Screen Awards, including for Best News or Information Segment.

The Canadian Screen Awards in the news, documentary, sports and digital media categories were handed out at a gala in Toronto Tuesday night.

W5, CTV’s investigative news program, won the award for “The War Zone,” a series that examined the deadly 2012 shooting of a Canadian war veteran by the RCMP.

W5 journalist Tom Kennedy also won Best Host or Interviewer in a News or Information Program or Series.

CTV’s Asia Bureau Chief Janis Mackey Frayer won the Best Reportage, National award for “They Would Bury the Children Last,” one of several reports from the frontlines during last summer’s Gaza war.

The second season of reality series “The Amazing Race Canada,” which airs on CTV, won three trophies: best direction, picture editing and writing.
