Footage sought by police investigating Walker community shooting

Police are searching for surveillance video of a shooting in Edmonton’s Walker neighbourhood in January.

A unit in a townhouse complex near Watt Boulevard and 12 Avenue was shot at around 7:45 p.m. on Jan. 16 by a person who arrived in a white hatchback vehicle, according to police.

In video footage captured by a security camera, a person is seen firing multiple shots.

No one was hurt.

Investigators believe the shooter targeted the wrong home.

Edmonton Police Service Staff Sgt. Eric Stewart said EPS didn’t release video of the incident earlier because it didn’t want to compromise the investigation.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Edmonton Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

A couple of neighbourhood residents told CTV News Edmonton the shooting has left them on edge.

But Stewart stressed this isn’t something that happens frequently.

“But you can see if there was (sic) occupants in that residence, there is a potential for a terrible outcome,” he said.

“We want to hold these people accountable.”
