Fire that damaged home in Alberta Avenue area under investigation: police

A fire that started in the backyard of a home at 88 Street and 117 Avenue and spread to the house is under investigation. (CTV News Edmonton)

A fire on Wednesday morning destroyed an Edmonton yard and damaged a house and garage.

The blaze started near a gazebo in the backyard of the home at 117 Avenue and 88 Street NW before spreading to the garage and the back of the house, according to investigators.

The Edmonton Police Service was called to the scene around 7:30 a.m. because firefighters believed the fire was deliberately set.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
