Edmonton weather: Warming trend begins, 20s by the weekend

CTV Edmonton's Cory Edel's forecast shows warmer days ahead.

It’ll be a slow warming trend, but temperatures will return to the mid-teens in Edmonton this afternoon.

We’ll get close to 20 C on Friday and then into the low to mid 20s through the weekend.

Things REALLY start to heat up early next week with a string of days near 30 C starting Monday and continuing through Wednesday (possibly Thursday, as well).

Cloudy skies over the city this morning with some showers off to the north and northeast. Those showers will pull away from the city and move through northeastern Alberta this morning.

Then, some showers and scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon in areas to the west and north of Edmonton.

Most (probably all) of those cells will skip past the city as they move northeast this evening. But, there IS a chance of one or two hitting over or near Edmonton late this afternoon/early this evening.

Otherwise...just a mix of sun and cloud for late this morning and this afternoon.

Friday sees some showers (and a few thunderstorms) push up out of southern Alberta.

We’ll have some scattered precipitation in central and northeastern Alberta through the afternoon and evening hours.

Again...it’ll be fairly hit and miss - so most of tomorrow should be a mix of sun and cloud in the city.

Sunnier conditions take over for the weekend, but it looks like wind could become a bit more of a factor with gusty conditions expected for Sunday.
