Edmonton weather: Sunny, warm and gusty for the weekend

CTV Edmonton's Cory Edel's forecast shows a potentially thundery Friday but sunny weekend.

Temperatures continue to climb over the coming days as the warming trend kicks in.

Edmonton hit a high of 16 C on Thursday and should get close to 20 C this afternoon.

We’ll see a daytime high in the low to mid 20s Saturday and then highs in the 25-30 C range for Sunday and early next week.

So…the cool spell that lasted for a few days at the start of this week is way back in the rear-view mirror and it’ll be feeling a lot more like summer for the final week of May.

Scattered showers and some hit-and-miss thunderstorms are likely across central and northern Alberta this afternoon.

But, it looks sunny and dry through the weekend in the Edmonton area and across most of the province.

Wind could be a bit of an issue, though. We’re expecting gusts in the 20-30 km/h range this afternoon and 40-50 km/h gusts Saturday/Sunday.
