Edmonton weather: A few days near average, then the heat rolls in

Some rain might fall in Edmonton Tuesday morning, but a big warm up is on the way, according to CTV Edmonton's Cory Edel.

An area of low pressure in northeastern Alberta is producing some showers in that part of the province.

We also have some rain along the southern edge of that system in areas from around Rocky Mountain House north to Highway 16. That rain zone is moving ESE through this morning and will mostly stay south of Edmonton.

But, there’s a chance of a few showers in the region...especially in southern parts of the Edmonton area.

Communities between Leduc and Red Deer have a much better chance at getting some morning rain.

We’re also expecting some gusty wind to develop from the Peace Country down through the Edmonton region midday and early this afternoon.

Gusts in the city will likely get to the 40-50 km/h range, but they could be much stronger further northwest.

After today, we settle into a dry spell and a big warming trend.

Temperatures will hit the mid-teens this afternoon. We’ll get a degree or two warmer Wednesday in Edmonton.

Then...into the low 20s for Thursday and mid-to-upper 20s for Friday/Saturday.

There’s a chance we’ll see some 30 C temperatures in parts of Alberta to close the week.
