Alberta drivers asked to slow down for provincial highway clean-up: RCMP

Alberta RCMP are asking drivers to exercise caution on provincial highways this weekend.

A province-wide highway cleanup will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday.

More than 12,000 participants will help clean marked areas of the highways. Eight-thousand children from 4H Clubs, Junior Forest Wardens and other youth groups will be among the crew.

In a press release, RCMP say drivers should slow down and watch out for added foot-traffic. There will be added officers patrolling the areas to enforce traffic safety and prevent speeding.

An alternate date of May 10 has been set if weather prevents the clean-up campaign.
