Molly Thomas joined CTV News in 2019 as a national correspondent in the network’s Ottawa Bureau.
Previously, she served as a news anchor and reporter for CTV News Channel, a contributor to CTV’s national morning show YOUR MORNING, as well as a co-host of CTV MORNING LIVE in Regina.
Thomas has held a variety of roles at several Canadian news organizations and one national news station abroad, including video journalist, anchor, producer, production assistant, and script writer. She has also contributed to the national, faith-based current affairs show CONTEXT WITH LORNA DUECK and the Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC).
Her passion for social justice stories has taken her to Iraq, Somalia, Bangladesh, Jordan, Haiti, Rwanda, Uganda, France, and England. In 2016, Thomas was one of four International Reporting Finalists for the AidEX Humanitarian & Development Journalism Award. In 2015, she received a Bronze Telly Award for her reporting after the November 2015 Paris attacks. In 2014, Thomas was recognized with an RTDNA Prairie Region Award for the sports feature Tracks of Change.
Thomas holds a Master of Global Affairs degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Regina. She regularly writes columns and speaks at conferences about her journalistic pursuits.
In her spare time, Thomas hosts various charity events, teaches Zumba, and is always up for a competitive game of basketball.
Molly loves languages and has studied university French, Spanish, German, Portuguese and knows a tiny bit of Arabic. Give her a few months in each country and she says she’d be chatting with locals in no time.
