A Saskatchewan photographer captured some striking images of a couple on their wedding day when a funnel cloud touched down in the distance during a photo shoot Saturday.

Professional photographer Colleen Niska was taking photos of a bride and groom on a rural road near Saskatoon when she noticed the twister in the distance, and kept snapping away.

Niska posted the stunning images on Facebook, saying said she’d only “dreamed” of capturing such images.

“Could NOT wait to post these!” she said. “Pretty sure this will only happen once in my lifetime!”

The photos were also making the rounds on social media. By Sunday evening, Niska’s album had more than 10,000 shares on Facebook.

Commenters congratulated Niska on her “amazing” photos.

“Seriously, I’m betting you this is gonna blow up and get you very well known!” one person wrote.

Environment Canada confirmed Saturday that two tornadoes touched down near Outlook, Sask., which is approximately an hour away from where the couple's photo shoot took place.

As for the wedding, the windy weather blew down a tent at the reception, but the rest of the outdoor party was said to be a success.
