SOREL-TRACY, Que. -- A Quebec priest who faces seven child pornography charges will remain behind bars until his next court appearance on Monday.

Daniel Moreau is charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

A judge agreed to a Crown request on Friday that Moreau not be released pending his return to court on Monday.

Moreau was arrested on Thursday in a church in Sorel-Tracy, northeast of Montreal.

Quebec provincial police raided Moreau's iving quarters after a request from another police force in Canada.

His diocese issued a staement saying he has been stripped of his responsibilities.
