Police make arrest in death of hockey mom outside Surrey arena

The RCMP has made an arrest in connection with the beating death of a mother outside a Surrey, B.C., hockey arena.

Julie Paskall, 53, was waiting for her son to finish refereeing a game when she was attacked on Dec. 29.

She was rushed to hospital and placed on life support, but died from her injuries days later.

The RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team will hold a news conference Saturday on the arrest, but say no charges have been laid.
