OXFORD, N.S. - A large sinkhole in a sleepy Nova Scotia town appears to have stopped growing -- at least for now -- as officials continue to monitor the situation.
Oxford, N.S., spokeswoman Linda Cloney said in an email that the sinkhole now measures 32.6 metres by 38.7 metres, the same as reported Saturday.
She says there has been little activity over the past 24 hours except minor mudslides, which have rounded off the corners.
The sinkhole, which has swallowed trees, picnic tables and part of a nearby parking lot, developed in early July at the Oxford and Area Lions Parkland.
Cloney says minor cracks are continuing to develop in the parking lot and are being monitored closely.
The spectacle has been drawing curious onlookers to the small town, located roughly 30 minutes from the New Brunswick border.
